Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

ANURDO is committed to improving public health and living conditions through sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions across urban and rural communities in Afghanistan. Our WASH programs are designed to ensure equitable access to safe drinking water, improved sanitation facilities, and effective hygiene practices, with a strong focus on vulnerable and underserved populations.
Our Focus Areas

Safe Water Supply:

We design, construct, and rehabilitate water supply systems including wells, boreholes, solar-powered water schemes, and distribution networks to ensure reliable access to clean and safe drinking water.
Sanitation Infrastructure:
We support the construction and rehabilitation of household and community latrines, school sanitation facilities, and inclusive sanitation systems that promote dignity, safety, and public health.

Hygiene Promotion:

We implement community-based hygiene awareness programs focusing on handwashing, disease prevention, menstrual hygiene management, and behavior change communication to reduce waterborne diseases.

Emergency WASH Response:

We provide rapid response services during emergencies through emergency water supply, sanitation solutions, and hygiene kit distribution to affected populations.

Sustainability & Community Ownership:

We strengthen local capacity by training water user committees and community members to manage, operate, and maintain WASH facilities for long-term sustainability.

Our Approach

ANURDO applies a community-driven and participatory approach, working closely with local leaders, government authorities, and humanitarian partners. Our interventions are designed not only to address immediate needs but also to build long-term resilience and self-reliance within communities.
